LFP have completed the construction of a leachate lagoon on top of the final waste level to allow for the management and treatment of leachate.

The works included waste excavation, waste regulating layer, installing HDPE geomembrane, baffle installation and tie-in to the existing geomembrane cap.

Following the installation of the leachate lagoon, a methane stripping system was installed to strip out the methane before discharge to sewer. Telemetry was also installed to allow automated and remote control of the system pumps and valves.
